Black Friday’s origins are firmly rooted in America. It’s widely thought the term was first applied to shopping for bargains back in the 1950s by the Philadelphia police department after hundreds of shoppers flocked to get the best deals in the high street sales that traditionally followed Thanksgiving Thursday.

UK shoppers only began to experience the festive phenomenon in 2010 but in just 11 years Black Friday has become the biggest shopping day of the year. Clarks Black Friday deals are followed by online savings on Cyber Monday when customers can take advantage of huge reductions on shoes and boots throughout the week.
